The Big 5
Tomorrow I will register my baby for kindergarten. How did this happen?
I'm kind of jealous that my kids don't have that amazing red hair. But my kids are amazing in general, no matter what color their hair is.
We had a great time at Scarborough Faire on Saturday. People try so hard to be "Renaissance" there but the lure of their cellphones give them away every time.
I am in some sort of slump. I have been reduced to photographing silk flowers. This is very sad.
Tomorrow, though, is Scarborough Faire! My battery is charged and I have a new 2 GB card ready to go. I think I'm just ready to take pictures of something different because I'm really looking forward to it.
Over the weekend, I completed a project I had started way back in November. I have a huge red wall in my living room and needed something to put on it. So I printed out 6 black and white photos I had taken of me and my family. I found 6 pre-matted frames to put them in. And on Sunday, my husband and father-in-law hung them up. It looks fantastic!
I was in a wedding over the weekend. It was a small wedding, in terms of participants. There were no attendants. I was one of two ushers and there were three other friends who played music and sang during the ceremony. It was simple and sweet.
It was also raining and freezing. And it was an outdoor wedding. With ice cream at the reception. Luckily the ceremony was short and there were large heaters for the reception. And despite temperatures in the 30s and wind chill in the who knows what, it was one of the nicest weddings I've been to.
The rain has been wonderful but I sure am glad to see the sun today. However, I have no idea how my yard is going to get mowed. The grass is almost up to my knees!
A photo from last summer.
The weather here has been weird lately. This week has actually been on the cool side. And it's still gray. We have moments when the sun peeks out for a little while but it's not enough for me. I know it's what the flowers, trees and grass need right now, though. They need time to toughen up for the harsh dry summer.
It seems like all I talk about is the weather here. That seems boring on the surface but it's pretty important when it comes to me getting out and taking pictures, both in terms of the quality of the photos and of the quality of my mood and desire to shoot.
Tomorrow a good friend is getting married and my battery is in the recharger right now. I'm going to try to get some photos at the rehearsal tonight because tomorrow may not be so good. It's supposed to be 45 degrees in the morning, gray, and a good chance of rain. This sucks, of course, for a late morning outside wedding. There are rain plans but who wants to get married inside when all the gardens are in full bloom?
Our trip to Scarborough Faire is coming up in about two weeks! I really should get that extra card for my camera because I know I'll be taking tons of photos.
