It was really funny when I cut the pepper open. It was just there, looking at me. I saw it instantly and I dropped the knife so I could get my camera. Dinner was put on hold for a few minutes while I tried to get the best picture. The kids didn't seem to mind too much.

My January tends to be almost as busy as December. Hence, the lack of posting lately. Things should slow down after February 5 and then maybe I'll have time to get out and take photos of things that aren't snapshots of my daily life. Of couse, sometimes those snapshots are pretty cool.

We had to say goodbye to another beloved pet recently. She was the sweetest hamster I've ever known. Things are understandably a little sad around our house these days.

Lately I've been thinking about how much I love dogs. I know having recently lost one of mine has made this so much more obvious to me. This is my friend's dog, Maggie, and she's now 15 years old. I just couldn't help but love on her all afternoon, when I wasn't trying to get her photograph. She didn't mind the loving at all but she hated the camera!

I had a photo shoot on Sunday. Poor Maggie, the dog, does not like having her picture taken. Next Saturday I have a photo shoot scheduled with a 2-year old girl. I wonder which one I'll find to be more challenging?

We didn't put up that many decorations this year because we went out of town to visit family. But things have been crazy since we got back and it's slow going to get back to normal. We'll get there. Eventually.

I think it's kind of funny that I wasn't able to take and post any photos of Christmas until after the new year.

My oldest daughter made this nutcracker in her 3rd grade art class three years ago. It's my favorite decoration.

We survived the holidays. Everyone is still in one piece. Now we're just trying to get settled back in at home. Thank goodness the weekend is coming up. I need to get some sleep. And do some laundry. And look at all the photos I took while we were visiting family for Christmas and New Year's.
