Geek alert!

For some reason, the mist coming out of the grate makes me think of comic books and horror movies. And sometimes the combination of the two. Hellboy II comes out in a couple of weeks and the trailer looks really good. Then Dark Knight. Two summer movies I've been waiting anxiously for.

So what's down under that grate? Should he be worried?

Really, it's an uppour.

The kids and I love, love, love this fountain. The past two weeks, two of my kids have been at summer camp at a place right next to this park downtown so we've gone a couple of times after work/camp. It's a perfect place to cool off while we're waiting for the 5:00 p.m. traffic to die down.

Keep Austin Surreal

Sometimes I think Austin is more than weird. Sometimes Austin is surreal. Keep Austin Surreal. That's what our motto should be, especially since there are other towns across the country who want to be kept weird. Maybe I'll make a bumper sticker.

I never liked begonias. I always thought of them as being kind of generic annuals. Everyone has them. They're kind of boring. But we got some a couple of months ago to put in the front beds. And then I took some pictures. Now I've changed my mind. I hadn't noticed before the great texture the leaves have and I love how they curl. There's a lot of texture in the flowers, too, and I'll have to use my macro ring so I can get a good picture of that. I'll have to do it soon, though, because these are annuals and won't last much longer.

The pig lost, but I won. I had a fabulous weekend -- Ladies Night, two parties, Cooking With Monica, a Goodwill run that cleaned out my bedroom a bit, and two awesome new dresses. That'll do, pig.

Sometimes I think people bring more hats than clothes to Flipside. One day I had to remove 4 hats from a chair so I could sit down.

But if you think about it, it makes sense. It's a lot easier to put sunscreen on your body than on your head.
