I think I'm going to print this one real big. And frame it.
It's foggy and misty today. It's not very cold (that comes tomorrow) but it's a miserable enough day that I wish I were at home on the couch watching movies instead of working.
I know I'm posting a lot of black and whites here lately. When I went to Leakey, I took a lot of photos in black and white. It was a cold and gray day there, much like today, and the black and white capture the mood perfectly. Besides, I took some photos in color, too, and it's hard to tell the difference between the two.
There's nothing like alone time by a freezing cold river on a cold gray January day. One of the things I liked best about my recent getaway weekend was the silence. I think we all welcomed it at times.
This is my favorite of all the Leakey photos I took this year. I think it would belong in the liner notes of the album these ladies would make if they were in a band together.
Well, look at me! Posting a photo!
Last weekend I went to Leakey, Texas, with a group of friends. We stayed in cabins right on the Rio Frio and there were some lovely photo opportunities. I got up early-ish on Saturday morning and walked down to the river alone. It was so quiet and peaceful and I saw a couple of deer come down to get a drink. They were too far away for me to get any decent pictures, but they were there. I promise.
I absolutely love going to Leakey. It was the fifth time I've been. I always go with a bunch of women but I'm thinking of taking my family there at the end of the summer. I think they would love it, too.
I didn't go fishing but I had a very relaxing holiday vacation. I ate, sat on my butt, read books, played video games, saw family and old friends. I really should do that more often.
Naturally, when I got back home I jumped right back into things: photo shoot on Saturday and my cooking group on Sunday. I'll be spending my evenings this week finishing up the photo shoot shots and the kids go back to school tomorrow. I may print this photo out so I have something nice to focus on when I get a little overwhelmed.
